Progress is being made

Came up with a name. From here on out it will be referred to as The Chiva Knievel Race Series. For those familiar with the band Zeke that name might ring a bell. For those not familiar with Zeke, quit being a douchebag and go buy some Zeke.

I’ve previously mentioned that the Chiva Knievel series will be compromised of different tracks at Chicken Creek as well as Fair Races at different folks houses. Well, after talking with Tucson it looks like the Collins’ boys may build a real track at their place. Another idea might be to go to any local racetrack. Whether or not they want to give us an official class is irrelevant. There looks to be anywhere from 5-10 of us involved so if they give us our own personal class that’s fine. If they don’t give us our own we’ll just enter any random class and have our own race within a race. We’ll know how we score and will award points accordingly.

Most race series are about 2 things and that is progression and measuring yourself against others. I say “most” because OCCRA refers to themselves a “race series” but I think it’s really just an excuse for a bunch of folks to hang-out on the weekends and create enough classes for everyone to place well and have something to talk about on a forum. But I digress… The Chiva Knievel Race Series has 1 goal in mind and that is FUN and we're confident enough in our masculinity to admit that. And it isn’t much FUN for a series to be dominated by one guy. With that in mind, we’re gonna do all sorts of things to shake up the points standings. For instance:

- Faster guys will be starting on the second row, backwards, holding the bike Gold Rush style… Whatever we come up with. Not only does this make it more interesting but it really gives the slower guys a chance to race and progress.
- There will be bonus point rounds. These may be drag races, wheelie competitions, beer drinking contests… If you got any ideas send ‘em on.

And don’t forget that there are no blue flags. We don’t give a shit what race you think you’re leading. If you’re so fast, pass whoever is in front of you. If anyone whines that they were held up then they are at the wrong place. Enter an AMA National you asshat.

Well that’s all the bullshit I can think to sling today. Just FYI, 2 guys already have bikes. Bobby got himself a cheap ’03 that needed some TLC and is currently administerring just that. Mike spent a little more coin but got himself an unbelievably clean ’04 and he’s ready to go. Chad says he'll play, Tucwon has been lookin’ for a bike, and as Hollis has apparently been under a rock. Things are shaping up. Might be a practice session late Sunday afternoon at the Creek.

Until then, bottoms up!

Cheers,
-Buddy
