Don't get left behind - Info on the CKDC

For folks new to the Chiva Knievel Dirt Bike Championship I figured a “Who, What, When, Where, and Why” was in order. From now on this can be deemed your bible for the coolest moto series that you’ll ever hope to be a part of.

What:

A small pit-bike race series organized and ran by the participants. The standard bike is the Honda XR100 with no engine performance modifications. Other comparable bikes (TTR125, KLX/DRZ110, etc..) are accepted. Modifications for the purpose of increasing durability (stiffer springs, frame cradles, etc..) are definitely ok. If a participant chooses to greatly modify their engine, or bring a high-performance pit-bike, they WILL be ridiculed and forced to take on any handicap agreed upon by the other participants. All original courses for the CKDC will be designed with the XR100 in mind and we will do our best to not include anything that would be too tough on the little bikes. After all, part of the reason we are doing this is because we are cheap. Throughout the series we will do our best to cover most popular moto disciplines. (Motocross, Flattrack, Cross-country, TT…) At most events there will also be some sort of “special test” such as a game of FootDown or a trials section to garner extra points.

Who:

Whoever thinks that this sounds like fun, has an acceptable bike, and doesn’t take any of this or themselves too seriously. It doesn’t matter if you have ridden/raced your whole life or are just starting. The CKDC is made up of both types of rider and we have found that the XR100 is the great equalizer. No matter your experience, you are gonna find someone to race with.

Where:

Most events will be held at the top secret location of Chicken Creek. This may cause you to ask “So how are Joe and Jane Public supposed to find this place?” .. Exactly. .. The top secret location will be made known only to those who are deemed to indeed be cool enough. The other options for event locations are temporary circuits in someone’s backyard (BBQ Race) and the occasional poaching of an event at an actual racetrack (Fancy Race). Any time that the CKDC goes to an actual racetrack it is extremely unlikely that we will go to the trouble to request our own class. We will decide on a random class to enter and then score ourselves separately after the event.

When:

For now this blog is the official source for all Chiva Knievel Dirtbike Championship info. Official Event Flyers, ideas, event pics, etc.. will be posted on here. It would be much appreciated if the participants would use this as their primary form of communication. For example, when a post asks for suggestions it would be really nice if you asshats would simply use the “comments” section of that post. That’s a very effective means of communication for all involved. Not only does it let “the board” know what you think but it lets the other participants know as well. IF, on the other hand, you insist on calling or emailing me personally I have to then go back and communicate that to the others in some way. Guess what… That ain’t gonna happen. I don’t have a secretary and I don’t like talking on the phone. Use the comments section or your voice will go unheard. If you insist on contacting me personally for CKDC info a nudey shot of your wife/girlfriend might make things happen. Unlike your mom, my time ain’t cheap.

Why:

…because it’s a hell of a lot of fun. That’s why. This is all meant for fun. The purpose of this series is to have a good time and NOT to see who the fastest man on a child’s bike is. Race results may be altered at the board’s discretion in order to keep the points race exciting.

Take any of this serious and you can take your serious ass somewheres else.

Cheers,

-Ho

  1. Dammit Imma have to find me an old XR80 like when I was a kid.

Can a participant run ICE COLD PBR in a camel back or would that be running an unapproved fuel?

  2. PBR or any other alcoholic beverage is most definitely OK. The kind of guy who can't take a drink at a pitbike race is the same kind of guy who gets out of the shower to take a piss.

However, you'll have to endure the abuse for wearing a camelbak.

  3. Dear Anonymous, before we can answer your questions we must suggest 2 things:

    #1: Don't be anonymous.
#2: Punctuation marks are symbols that indicate the structure and organization of written language. Go on and give that a shot. By no means do you have to possess good grammar but try to be literate.

    10-4. .. Come on back.

  5. Good to hear it, Nub. I'm working on dates now. Checking to make sure that we don't interfere with any other local race series. ...despite the fact that they are indeed inferior to the CKDC and should work around us.

  6. Not sure if you know Kelly Cayton but he has a flat track in his back yard specifically setup for minis and mostly XR80's and XR100's run it. Pretty sure he would be open to holding a race there. Not positive it could be a night race due to lighting but pretty sure he'd be will to do a race. He's right in mid town tulsa too, it's awesome.

  7. Mr. Fok,
If you would like to do a woods event, I'll offer up my little 5 acres out by Mounds. While your series doesn't mention a slip n slide covered ramp or a beer chug, it still sounds like fun. Please let me know if you would be interested before I tear down the ramp or it falls down on its own due to poor build quality. The track:

  8. I'm upset that my CR80 is not on this list as Jason and Noel can both vouch I have a hard time keeping the wheels on the ground in an upright position.
