Round 4 Race Report

Well, the Gold Rush Supermoto round of the CKDC came and went and turned out to be a real blast. It was fun racing something completely different with a bunch of new folks. Good guys and I’m looking forward to seeing some of them at future CKDC rounds on true 100’s. I don’t remember their names but I know where to find ‘em and can’t wait for the next round.

The Supermoto course was a lot of fun but definitely a neck stretcher for the 100’s. I had one hell of a battle going in the heat race for 3rd with a CRF150 and a full supermoto’d KX65. We obviously had different sections of the track where we were fast. On the last lap coming out of Everybody’s Favorite and into the hairpin I was doing my best to make up time under braking when the knobby tire/pavement combo ceased to agree. I was back up quick but the gap was too big to do anything with before the checkers. Still put me at 5th pick on the front row for the main. Judging by Grant’s pick on the line I believe he got a 7th in the heat. That’s really good considering the bikes we were up against. We got a new Bobby in the CKDC and I’m not sure what spot he grabbed in the heat but I know he was flying.

Me and 2 of the funnest guys at the race. The 100 don't look so bad here.

Main Event: Start was a little hectic and some cat on a YZ105 put it down in the first turn. Then some other dude on a BBR150 threw it down HARD coming back onto the pavement for the first time. We flew by him while he curled up in the fetal position. This led to me and the same 2 dudes having a pretty good fight at the front of the pack. Just as they were inching away from me the dude on the YZ caught and passed me on the pavement. I caught back up in the dirt and edged my wheel just in front of his in the last turn before the asphalt but that was all she wrote. That bike of his was quick. I think he had aftermarket grips or something. Meanwhile Grant was having a hell of a fight just a little farther back when he hit a shoebox sized rock on the other side of the tabletop. After picking himself up he fought back through a few but I’m not 100% sure where he ended up. Mr. Duck wasn’t as lucky as us and got rear ended harder than a hobo at Turkey Mountain. He had a nice big bloody strawberry on his elbow and broke his shift lever off. His day was done early but at least he got out there. ….which is more than I can say for most of the CKDC’s “regulars.” You pussies missed a good time. Again, Mr. Hill gets a pass for a pre-planned family outing. The rest of you ladies, we real racers missed you. It's a shame ya'll got yer periods at the exact same time.

So a damn good time for sure. Met some new folks, had the Broalition cheering/heckling for us, and the Miz took these bitchin pics. The race was fun. The people were better. ...and that's how it's supposed to be.
