1986

This has to be one of the first pics I have of me with my first dirt bike. I was in 6th grade and my grandpa Bud hooked me up with a used ’85 YZ80 from K&N. I thought it was extra rad because it already had stickers AND numbers. The helmet is sportin’ a Haro visor and Haro mouth…thinga-muh-jigger…from my BMX roots. I had a bitchin’ pair of Oakley goggles but they had the darkest lense you’ve ever seen. I think you could’ve watched a nuclear explosion in those. Cloudy days be damned. The gloves and boots are whatever was on the bargain rack at K&N and were completely and totally sufficient for the “abuse” I was dealing out to ‘em. Leathers are obviously by Levi’s.

Looks like I’m just chillaxin’ and waiting on my dad to get home to go burn some laps around the deserted drive-in theater that was just down the road. That’s right. How many of you caught the episode of Chips where they ran through the drive-in theater and thought “damn that would be far out”? Well I know I did and I actually got to do just that.

I still have this bike in the shop behind my house but the motor is sorta scattered. I should get it back together.

Oh and how ‘bout that jersey? It was some t-shirt that had a bunch of old moto’ and hot rod logos on it. As you can see I’ve cut the sleeves off so the bitches could get 2 tickets to the gun show. Between those pipe cleaners and that seductive pose I’m really amazed that I didn’t have more luck with the ladies.
